UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (WTAJ) – Penn State recognized a special group of students that will soon be receiving their diplomas.

Thursday night, 200 military students from Penn State's online program and 30 that attended class at the University Park campus were saluted for their service and their academic achievement.

The university gave them red, white and blue graduation cords, representing the same colors these students have defended or will soon be defending, to wear throughout Penn State's upcoming spring graduation.

Marine veteran Christopher Jackson said his experience at Penn State has been invaluable.

"I think Penn State is very top notch for veterans. And just the education I've gotten here in the last two years is by far some of the best I've had, whether it was in my past background with the military or other things I've done, education here is just pretty incredible," Jackson said.
